Company Recalls All Chocolate Bars Over Salmonella Fears

Spring & Mulberry has expanded its recall to include all 12 of its chocolate bar varieties after concerns surfaced about possible salmonella contamination. The company, based in Raleigh, North Carolina, announced the update alongside federal regulators on Friday. Every product made with a specific lot of date ingredient used to sweeten the bars is now affected. These items have been sold nationwide since August 2025 through online shops and select retailers.

So far, no illnesses have been reported, and all finished products have tested negative for salmonella. Still, a joint investigation with food‑safety experts and the FDA traced the contamination risk back to a single batch of dates. After the supplier issued its own recall, Spring & Mulberry followed by pulling every product made with the implicated ingredient. Customers can find more details in the company’s official recall statement and the FDA’s notice.

The recall spans flavors like Blood Orange, Coffee, Earl Grey, Lavender Rose, Mango Chili, Mint Leaf, Mixed Berry, Mulberry Fennel, Pecan Date, Pure Dark, Pure Dark Mini, and Sea Salt. Shoppers are urged not to eat any of the affected bars and instead photograph the packaging and lot code before contacting the company for a refund. Salmonella can cause serious illness, especially in vulnerable groups, with symptoms ranging from fever to abdominal pain. While most healthy people recover without treatment, Spring & Mulberry says it is working closely with federal authorities to ensure safety and transparency throughout the recall.
